A Summer Time Ritual: The Car Wash

The beautiful woman washes the car

You might not ever get rich
But let me tell you it’s better than digging a ditch
There ain’t no telling who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even an Indian chief…”  or so sang Rolls Royce in their 1975 disco smash hit single “Carwash.” You can buy the song here on iTunes.

The whole idea of washing your car is a summertime ritual that ranks right up there with eating Peeps at Easter time – either you hate it or you love it. Now as the world emerges from its cocoon, it’s time to start getting back to what we should be doing.

Los Angeles is The Land of Cars and Car Washes

In Seattle, there is a Starbucks on every corner. In Missoula, Montana there is a weed dispensary on every corner. In New Orleans, there is a House of Vodoo on every corner. In Hollywood, California… there is a car wash on every corner. Mr. Brick actually enjoys a good car wash. When I was living the Hollywood lifestyle I found the ultimate car wash in Hollywood. It is located on Sunset Blvd. Oddly enough, it is called Sunset Car Wash. They have a hard-working crew that will make your Mazda shine as much as a Mazarati. OK, well not quite, but the car wash workers seem to put just as much effort into every car, even if it is a piece of crap.  Each car is hand washed for a sparkling clean! Kudos for them for working hard and not being jaded. They are probably the least jaded people in Hollywood. So next time you’re in Hollywood, they are located at 7955 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90046

Sheryl Crow Sang about People Washing Cars in Hollywood

But not everyone lives in La La Land and/or not everyone can afford to have someone else wash their car. So sometimes that falls upon your own shoulders, err hands. If it does, hopefully, you are the type of person who embraces it. If not, hey, it could be worse. You could have to clean up cat vomit… which is why sometimes you must wash your car, because of the said cat vomit.

I mush prefer washing someone else’s car than washing my own. The pleasure I give someone else to have that new car look in the eyes is worth the effort. When I do wash my own rig it is an ordeal, but I’m glad when it is done. I’d much rather be grilling cheeseburgers on the gas grill. Both have equal rewards in my book. I enjoy washing the car because I usually end up finding lost items under the seats or wedged between the seats. I compiled a list of 5 things I found in the last car cleanse.

1. A Nokia flip phone  – I’ve never owned one.

2.  Grocery list dated March 22, 2020. In big red letters it said, don’t forget the olives. Guess who forgot the olives? It’s because my shopping list had vanished.

3.  Jimmy Hoffa

4. DVD from the 6th season of the TV series Lost No wonder I couldn’t find it, because it was lost. (think about it)

5.  Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

Have a great day!
