Is Your Blog Really Amazing?

blog word

OK, I really don’t expect you to believe me when I say that my blog is “amazing” because the word “amazing” has lost its mojo. So many things in life we proclaim as amazing are in fact just breaths of fresh air in an otherwise stale slice of life.

Watch TV and count how many times the word amazing is used in a 30-minute newscast… it is amazing how many times that word is overused. Oops, there I go, I used it again myself. See what I mean? It is hard to get away from using it. Its kind of like a hidden flask is to an alcoholic.

I posted on Facebook about an example I heard yesterday from two young tween girls talking to each other at the local Piggly Wiggly market. when I emerged from self-isolation long enough to get something to cook microwave.  They were wearing matching jean shorts, PINK T’s and matching cloth face masks. Cute. It seemed like every aisle I walked down, there were the Bobbsy Tweens. Our first encounter was in the frozen food section when Young Tween #1 exclaimed to Young Tween #2 how “a-m-a-z-i-n-g” the Individual Sara Lee Cheese Cakes were.

I must admit, I thought to myself, yes, they are very tasty. The long time readers know, Mr. Brick enjoys his cheesecake. A few minutes later I saw the girls again pondering their food selection, this time in the cereal aisle when Young Tween #1 suddenly, and violently, grabbed a box ofFruit Loops and told her friend how “a-m-a-z-i-n-g” her Fruit Loops were with soy milk.

You can Loop me, but I’m not proclaiming Fruit Loops are any more amazing with soy milk than the milk that squirts from those dangly teets of a cow.

Enough about my shopping trip… So, about how to write an amazing blog… here is the thick of the plot:

Back, to my shopping trip…

I thought my “amazing” shopping trip was over, but amazingly, the summer tanned duo strolled up behind me as I was waiting for my typical guy food items (Diet Coke, Mustard, Spray Cheese in a can, Frozen Pizza, Cap’n Crunch, etc, etc) to be scanned by the cashier. Somewhere between the beep beep from the 2 liters of Diet Coke and the beep-beep from the cereal box I heard the Young Tween #1 talking about the “a-m-a-z-i-n-g” night she had last night with some boy named Eric at a dance club. The way I figure it, this Eric must have the personality of cheesecake because it too is amazing!

So that’s my amazing story and I’m sticking to it. Maybe my blog is not amazing, but I think it is pretty funny sometimes. Go ahead, read some of my past posts they are amazing, I mean, they are breathtaking, astonishing, astounding, surprising, stunning, staggering, shocking, startling, stupefying… anything but amazing!
